At Montessori Family Centre, we offer an array of classes to support children from 6 weeks to 9 years old. Programmes at the centre include Parent-Toddler, Infant & Movers, Phonics Reading & Writing, Music & Movement, Art & Crafts and Emotional Intelligence.

We will also provide opportunities for families to partake in workshops. These include Parent Education, Mums Club, Family Art Sessions and Fun Bakes. We will also host community events and celebrations.

Currently, our sessions are guided in English but we are taking on a Portuguese Montessori Assistant very soon to make our programmes accessible for the whole community. Montessori education places a strong emphasis on embracing diversity, promoting inclusivity, and fostering cultural awareness among all. We provide a safe and warm space for all families.

We ensure that all materials are real, functional and child-sized. All fruit served are organic and our cleaning and hygiene products are eco-friendly and non-toxic.

For every programme, the environment is set up to meet the developmental needs of each age group where independence, concentration, responsibility, curiosity and the love of learning is developed.

The first of many beautiful videos of Montessori Family Centre. This one showcases the environment set up for infants.

We divide the children into the following age groups:

Infants: 6 weeks to 8 months

Movers: 8 months to 18 months

Toddlers: 18 months to 3 years

Preschool: 3 years to 6 years

Lower Elementary: 6 years to 9 years

These age groups are general guidelines as every child has his own developmental timeline and we will honour that. For example, should a 16 month old toddler be able to walk steadily and use his hands freely, he will be accepted into the toddler programme. The guide will observe the child to access his level of independence. In Montessori, we use the term, ‘guide’ instead of ‘teacher’ as we facilitate, rather than teach, placing the focus on the child’s self-directed learning rather than the educator.

For every programme, observations of parents are highly valued and we encourage sharing of this information when we reunite in the following class.
