Phonics for Toddlers (Parent-Child Programme)
For toddlers aged 18 months–3 years
A joyful beginning with language
In our Montessori Phonics for Toddlers programme, we support children’s natural love of language through sound, movement, stories and play. Rather than teaching children to read, we carefully prepare the foundations that make reading joyful and effortless later on.
This programme honours each child’s individual rhythm and development, offering a calm, playful space where language is absorbed naturally — just as Dr Maria Montessori observed.
Our Montessori Approach
At toddler age, language develops first through listening, speaking and meaningful connection. In line with Montessori principles, we focus on:
Sounds before letters (phonics, not alphabet names)
Oral language enrichment
Multi-sensory, hands-on experiences
Short, repeated activities guided by observation
A warm, respectful and pressure-free environment
There is no expectation for children to read — only to enjoy language.
What Children Experience
Each session offers a gentle rhythm that supports concentration, confidence and curiosity:
Sound Awareness
Listening games and sound exploration
Environmental sounds, music and rhythm
Voice play and animal sounds
Spoken Language Enrichment
Songs, stories and finger plays

Books & Love of Reading
Children are introduced to books in a relaxed and meaningful way:
Shared reading with realistic, age-appropriate books
Learning how to hold and turn pages
Developing attention and enjoyment — without pressure
This builds a strong emotional connection to books and stories
For Parents & Caregivers
We believe language grows best when families feel supported. Throughout the programme, parents gain gentle guidance on:
How Montessori supports early language development
Why phonics focuses on sounds, not letter names
Simple ways to support language at home through daily life
You don’t need to “teach” — just talk, listen and enjoy.
Outcomes You May Notice Over Time

Confidence in communication
Curiosity about sounds and words
A joyful readiness for reading later on
